First full season with the mustang pretty much over..has been loads of fun. I’ve vastly improved my skills and really learned the car. Tires were a huge improvement...probably going to gets some shocks and a sway bar for next season.
A bunch of pics from various events this season-
Heres a clip from the last event(last weekend) at Crows Landing. Wasn’t driving to the best of my abilities(it was hot and I was sick/exhausted..excuses etc.), but still did okay:
Theres a few other clips on my yt channel
Best part...all of the spectators survived a mustang out on course!

How does one get a tire rack sponsorship? What does it entitle you to?

The fact that they put the 128i in there.

Oh. Yea.
The SCCA classing is really screwed up for some cars. For instance, when i had my Abarth, it was classes in GS....with all the Focus ST’s. A shitty little 160hp econo-hatch with Torsion Beam rear suspension and skinny tires..vs. a 250HP hot hatch with way wider tires and better developed suspension. Makes sense.
Maybe they will put the 1-series into DS..they are moving the EB stang there next year.

The 128i is moving to DS, where it’s still going to be with cars with 300 HP, AWD, wider tires and LSD’s.

Oh. I dont have a TR sponsorship. The reason the car has the stickers in a few of the pics is because, that was a Nationals event. At the nationals or pro-solo events, SCCA requires all cars to have series-sponsor stickers. You can apply for contingency sponsorship for each individual series(nationals,pro-solo or local)
See here:
https://www.scca.com/pages/main-con…
The basics of it are, if you put the relevant sticker/s on your car and win the required amount of events with said stickers, you can win some money or free/discounted stuff- I.E. if i had a Miata, running Bridgestone tires...I would put a Mazda sticker in the required spot(since they are one of the few manufacturers that have solo contingency), of which, they define and provide the stickers. Then, put a Bridgestone sticker in the correct spot. After winning the required amount of events, I would provide them with the documentation needed and receive whatever I won.

Ah.
Unfortunately, the only way to really beat the shit system, is to buy the most competitive car in that class(which, of course, is a bit of a moving target).
My car is not the most competitive, especially at a nationals level(that would be the E9x M3 and ‘16 Camaro SS), but then again..neither am I. If the upcoming 1LE gets classed in FS, its game over for anyone else.

Ahhh, okay. Very informative. Part of me always thought certain companies handed out sponsorships for small discounts as long as you were competing. This makes sense, though. Thank you!

That's awesome. Car seems really composed and flat. I still really like/would purchase a GT.

Thanks. Yea its hard to beat the price to performance value of it. Especially since you can get one for way under sticker.

I was having some good back and forth with a guy in a 128i this year but he moved away partway through the season. Boo.
Of course, I’m showing up with 400lbs of hey-there’s-no-roof ballast in my M3 in the first place, so it doesn’t matter quite as much to me which cars end up on the receiving end of favourable classing.
